Dr Larry Istrail has been a physician at Inova Fairfax for the last 5 years. He went to medical school at Virginia Commonwealth University and completed his internal medicine residency here at Fairfax as well. He is certified in point of care ultrasound by the society of hospital medicine and has been using POCUS in his clinical practice for the past 6 years. He has published multiple studies on the utility of POCUS in improving patient care and recently published a book titled "The POCUS Manifesto," arguing that POCUS plays a vital role in saving our patients from unnecessary complications, near misses, and excess testing.
