Dr Saritha Gomadam is a board certified Infectious Disease and Internal Medicine physician, who graduated from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine.  She completed  her internal medicine residency at the Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh, PA, and worked as a hospitalist at Johns Hopkins prior to infectious disease fellowship.  Dr Gomadam completed her infectious disease fellowship from the University of Kentucky in Lexington , KY in 2017 and served as the chief fellow in her final year of fellowship.  She joined Bon Secours Mercy Health (BSMH) as an infectious disease consultant providing care  to immune competent and immune compromised people with diverse infectious disease processes in both inpatient and outpatient settings. While providing clinical care,  she also served as medical director  for the infectious disease division leading infection prevention and stewarship efforts and initiatives across  multiple hospitals in the Richmond area . 

Dr Gomadam joined VDH in 2023, initially as medical director for Richmond and Henrico Health Districts (RHHD) and transitioned to the role of  Medical Officer for Community Health services in 2024.  In her current role, she provides strategic medical leadership and serves as a clinical consultant for infectious diseases to multiple districts across the state. With an interdisciplinary team , efforts are directed toward quality patient care, community assessment and health education, program design and evaluation, resource allocation,  and inter-agency organization of health-related activities. With interest in teaching and to enhance infectious disease education, she began an elective rotation for infectious disease fellows from local academic institutions to rotate through VDH. Dr Gomadam recently joined the National Tuberculosis Coalition of America ( NTCA) as a high incidence representative in the National Society of Tuberculosis Clinicians (NTSC) division and serves as a community resource on communicable disease issues and health risk reduction.
