Erika J. Yoo, MD, FCCP
Dr. Yoo is currently an Associate Professor of Medicine and Medical Intensive Care Unit Director at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA, where she has been on faculty in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy & CCM for over 7 years. Following completion of Internal Medicine residency at Columbia in NYC and fellowship in PCCM at UCSF, Dr. Yoo started her career at Drexel University where she also served as MICU Director for over 4 years before transitioning to her current position at Jefferson.
Dr. Yoo is deeply involved in trainee education and is consistently included among the “Top 25 Teachers” honored yearly by the Internal Medicine housestaff. She has also twice been the recipient of the Internal Medicine Residency Award for Excellence in Teaching in Pulmonary & Critical Care. She was most recently awarded the Sidney Kimmel Medical Center faculty award as Outstanding Clinician, Hospital-Based Medicine in 2025.
In addition to rounding clinically in the MICU, Dr. Yoo is passionate about understanding and optimizing how health care is delivered in the critical care setting. After focusing her research training during fellowship in ICU policy and health services, she sought additional education in the science of patient safety and quality. She continues to mentor medical students, residents and fellows in quality improvement initiatives conducted in the inpatient setting.
