Brian Wentworth, MD, MS

Dr. Brian Wentworth is a transplant hepatologist at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA. He graduated from Vanderbilt University and completed medical school at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, NJ. He moved to Charlottesville for Internal Medicine residency at UVA and won the Resident Humanism in Medicine and Excellent in Teaching Award with subsequent induction into the Arnold P. Gold Humanism Honor Society. He continued onto both Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology Fellowship at UVA, completing his medical training in 2021. To begin his faculty career, he was awarded the AASLD Clinical, Translational and Outcomes Research Award and completed a Masters of Science in Clinical Research at UVA. He has a diverse research portfolio, including both investigator-initiated studies and serving as Primary Investigator for several clinical trials. He is a Core Faculty Member of the UVA Gastroenterology Fellowship and enjoys working with and mentoring medical trainees of all levels. In addition, his clinical interests include autoimmune and cholestatic liver disease. Dr. Wentworth runs the UVA Cholestatic Liver Disease Clinic, which specializes in care of patients with a wide variety of cholestatic conditions such as PBC, PSC, hepatic sarcoidosis, PFIC and Alagille syndrome.
