Sara Parker, MD FACOG, FACS
Dr. Sara R. Parker, MD, FACOG, FACS is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist and critical care physician with nearly two decades of experience in academic medicine, clinical leadership, and hospital-based practice. She currently serves as an OBGYN Hospitalist at Inova Fairfax Medical Center in Falls Church, Virginia.
Dr. Parker earned her medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Hahnemann University Hospital, where she was elected Chief Resident. She further specialized with a Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center. She holds dual board certifications from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the American College of Surgeons in Critical Care.
Her leadership roles include serving as Director of Labor and Delivery and Director of the OBGYN Hospitalist Program at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center, where she also practiced as both an OBGYN and ICU attending. Earlier in her career, she held faculty and leadership appointments at MedStar Washington Hospital Center and Georgetown University School of Medicine, where she contributed to residency training, clinical operations, and HIV perinatal research.
An accomplished educator and lecturer, Dr. Parker has been recognized with multiple teaching and collaboration awards, including honors from the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics (APGO), the Arnold P. Gold Foundation, and several hospital-based recognitions for clinical excellence and interprofessional teamwork. She has delivered invited lectures on topics ranging from obstetric emergencies to health equity and implicit bias in medicine.
Her scholarly contributions include research in critical care obstetrics, reproductive health for vulnerable populations, and innovations in medical education. Beyond clinical care, she has served on numerous hospital committees addressing quality, ethics, maternal safety, and mortality review, as well as statewide perinatal quality initiatives.
Dedicated to advancing patient safety, equity, and interdisciplinary collaboration, Dr. Parker continues to integrate her expertise in obstetrics, gynecology, and critical care to improve outcomes for mothers and families.
