James Solomon

Division Chief of Anesthesia, Inova Health System
Dr. James Solomon is a specialty care physician board certified in adult anesthesiology and pediatric anesthesiology. He joined the Inova Health System as the system-wide division chief of anesthesiology in 2025. He has been practicing anesthesiology since 2003.
Prior to joining Inova, Dr. Solomon was a pediatric anesthesiologist in the United States Navy at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center where he practiced for more than 20 years. In his time there he served as the Deputy Director of Surgical Services and Chair of the Medical Executive Committee. His final role was as the Director of the Surgical Service Line for the National Capital Region. He also worked as a part-time anesthesiologist at INOVA Fairfax Hospital since 2009.
Dr. Solomon grew up in Northern Virginia. Outside the hospital, he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, fitness, and good coffee.
Dr. Solomon is a Fellow of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and Board Examiner for the American Board of Anesthesiology
