- Personal Statement:
I am an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and have a focused interest in pediatric hematology especially in sickle cell disease, hemoglobinopathies and bleeding and thrombosis. I have worked on clinical research to reduce the burden of thrombosis in high-risk populations, including evaluating the role of prophylactic anticoagulation in patients with malignant mediastinal masses and presently working on studying risk factors of developing thrombosis in the small bowel, liver transplant cohort. I am the clinical director of the pediatric sickle cell program at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital and have established a strong comprehensive pediatric and young adult sickle cell comprehensive clinic. I also have a strong interest in medical education and am the course director of the Pediatric Hematology Oncology elective at Georgetown University Medical Center.
