Timothy Welch, MD
Timothy Welch, MD is the Director of the Advanced Heart Failure program at Virginia Heart. He is also a cardiologist with the Inova Cardiac ICU program and the Advanced Heart Failure, Mechanical Circulatory Support and Cardiac Transplant program. He specializes in treating patients with advanced heart failure, cardiogenic shock and infiltrative cardiomyopathies, particularly cardiac amyloidosis.
Dr. Welch received his undergraduate degree, cum laude in Chemistry, from University of California, Irvine, and his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences. He completed his residency in internal medicine and cardiology fellowship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. During his residency training, he was selected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Society. He then had further specialized training in advanced heart failure and cardiac transplantation through a fellowship at the University of Virginia.
He is a founder and the codirector of the Inova Cardiac Amyloid Program, a multispecialty practice caring for cardiac amyloid patients in the mid-Atlantic region.
