Paul White, MD
Paul W. White, MD, is a native of Chicago, IL, and grew up in Oak Park, IL, a suburb of Chicago. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Thomas Aquinas College, a Catholic liberal arts college in southern California. After a year working as an editor for a publishing company in Chicago, he attended Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, Graduating in 2000 with an M.D. He completed his residency in General Surgery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. including one year of surgical research at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Continuing at Walter Reed, he then completed a fellowship in Vascular Surgery.
While a completing his surgical training, he married Margaret Mehan, J.D. He and his wife have eight children, and currently reside in Herndon, VA. He serves on the Washington D.C., Board of Regents for Thomas Aquinas College. He is an active member in his parish, St. Catherine of Siena, Great Falls, VA, and is a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus.
After fellowship, he was assigned to D.D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Augusta, GA. After serving in Iraq with the 10th Combat Support Hospital at Ibn Sina Hospital in Baghdad, he returned to Eisenhower where he became the chief of Vascular Surgery for four years. In 2012, he was selected to become the Program Director for the Walter Reed Vascular Surgery Fellowship. He was named Consultant to the Surgeon General for Vascular Surgery in 2016. He has deployed two additional times to Syria and Iraq.
In 2021, Dr. White retired from the US Army, and joined the Inova Heart and Vascular Institute at Inova Fairfax Medical Center as the Director of Vascular Trauma. He practices vascular surgery at Inova Fairfax MC and Inova Loudoun Hospital in Leesburg, VA. He currently serves as the Associate Medical Director of the Virginias Vascular Study Group.
He is boarded in both General and Vascular Surgery. He has authored over 50 peer-reviewed papers, book chapters and online learning modules. He has presented by invitation both nationally and internationally. He has served on committees in the Society for Vascular Surgery and the Association of Program Directors in Vascular Surgery.
