Ms. David completed her Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in health disparities from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. In the recent past, she served as the Program Manager, Chief Physician Assistant, and Advanced Practice Provider Manager for the Sickle Cell Center for Adults at Johns Hopkins Hospital under the Division of Hematology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine for over 18 years. She has over 15 years of specialty experience managing the complications of SCD clinically operating the first comprehensive SCD infusion center in the state of Maryland at Johns Hopkins Hospital; training nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, medical students, residents, community health workers and hematology fellows on the clinical management of people living with SCD. Additionally, Ms. David served as the project director of the Evidence-Based Management of Sickle Cell Disease: Expert Panel Report, 2014, a $1.4 million task order funded by the National Institutes of Health. Her SCD research interests include access to care and decreasing acute care utilization, particularly among a complex, high-utilizing subpopulation on high dose opioids using buprenorphine, and other successful treatment methods. Some of her pertinent publications to the field of SCD include: Converting Adults with Sickle Cell Disease from Full Agonist Opioids to Buprenorphine: A Reliable Method with Safety and Early Evidence of Reduced Acute Care Utilization, The Telemedicine Experience for Individuals with Sickle Cell Disease and The Impact of a Dedicated Infusion Clinic for Acute Management of Adults with Sickle Cell Pain Crisis. Advocating for those with genetic blood disorders, such as sickle cell disease, is her passion, and she is dedicated to serving people living these disorders until they are supplied vital and equitable care.
