George Maxwell
I have been the Chairman of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Inova Fairfax Hospital since my retirement from the U.S. Army in 2011 after 20 years of service. Since 2019, I also serve as the President of Women’s Services for the Inova Women’s Hospital for the Inova Health System Women and in this role oversee operational, financial, and academic activities within five women’s hospitals. I have substantial experience providing administrative and programmatic leadership over multi-institutional research consortia serving as the co-Principal Investigator of several DOD-funded program projects , co-P.I. of the DOD-funded Gynecologic Cancer Center of Excellence (GYN-COE) (one of three intramural cancer research programs within the DOD) and site P.I. for the AHRQ funded COMPARE-UF consortium. Within the Cancer Moonshot APOLLO program, I serve as a member of the Executive Committee, co-Chair the Tissue Work Group, Chair the GYN Disease Oriented Teams (DOT), co-Direct the Research Pathology Center in the mission to characterize 8,000 cancers integrating proteogenomics, clinical data, patient reported outcomes, and imaging features. I serve as the P.I. of the Proteogenomic Alterations In Racial and Ethnic Disparities (PAIRED) Consortium which aligns cancer centers in Hawaii, Alaska, Oklahoma, Arizona, South Dakota, North Caroline, Detroit and California in the assembly of data and biospecimens for proteogenomic analyses. I have over 270 publications and have been the recipient of numerous awards by my professional society.
