Mara Watts is a licensed counselor with a perinatal mental health specialty.  She has worked in the NICU at Inova Fairfax Hospital for 2 years helping to support parents and staff.  This has sparked an interested in trauma informed care, attachment theory and narrative therapies.  Imbedding mental health into the NICU has helped to create a sense of community and workplace safety and has helped give space to debrief and validate the emotions that go into a NICU journey on all sides.  Mara hopes to continue to build a program that values mental health being at every table where medical decisions are made.
