Kara A. Nyberg, PhD
For the past 20 years, Kara A. Nyberg, PhD, has applied her expertise in molecular and cellular biology to a highly successful career in medical writing. Kara has worked with a long list of clients that cater to healthcare professionals, scientific researchers, and pharmaceutical representatives. She regularly reports on research from medical meetings, designs training materials for pharmaceutical companies, synthesizes feedback from physician/pharmacist advisory boards, assists with medical manuscripts, and develops content for physicians to share with their peers. Although her portfolio includes a diverse array of medical topics, Kara most frequently writes in the areas of oncology, infectious diseases, and autoimmune diseases. She has accrued extensive experience covering new therapeutic strategies that leverage monoclonal antibodies and/or small molecules to target aberrant cells and augment the immune system.
Kara’s fluency in an array of medical topics can be traced back to her graduate training at the University of Arizona in the laboratory of Ted Weinert. While there, she focused on basic cancer research in which she studied the structure and function of RAD9, which is the yeast homolog of human BRCA1, a gene implicated in hereditary forms of breast and ovarian cancers. Kara has found that this scientific training, along with her education about molecular and cellular biology in general, lends itself very well to understanding the pathophysiology and management of various diseases and disorders.
