Professor of Medicine

Dr. Barsony is a physician scientist with expertise in bone biology and clinical endocrinology. She is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at Georgetown University Medical Center. She graduated from Semmelweis University Medical School in Hungary and received her fellowship training at NIH. She was an independent senior Investigator at NIH until 2008, when she joined her current position. Her research remained continuously funded by NIH grants, in close collaboration with Dr. Joseph Verbalis MD, to elucidate hyponatremia induced osteoporosis. Her clinical and teaching activities established her as a leader in the field of bone and calcium disorders.
