Sr. Director of CDI

Seasoned nurse with more than 20 years of clinical documentation integrity (CDI) experience. Prior to joining Inova in August 2024, Carmel used her professional experience and skills to assist healthcare organizations in their efforts to guarantee that clinical documentation accurately reflects the resources used and the care given to patients. This was accomplished in a number of capacities, including former Director of Ambulatory Quality and Safety for 50 hospital-owned physician practices, Clinical Product Consultant for a healthcare technology vendor serving almost 100 hospitals nationwide, and former CDI Director for a 13-hospital system in Maryland. Carmel is skilled at leading hospital and system-level efforts to improve patient outcomes and organizational efficiency, and she has a track record of success in clinical documentation integrity. Carmel has collaborated with corporate executives, CDI leadership, coding staff, and CDI specialists to create workflows and processes that help healthcare organizations achieve their goals.
