Nancy Gantt, Nancy L. Gantt, MD FACS
Dr. Gantt is Professor of Surgery, Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) and the Breast Program Director of the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center, Bon Secours Mercy Health, Youngstown, Ohio. Professionally she focuses on inclusive, interdisciplinary care of breast disease and surgical education. At Mercy St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital she serves as Associate Director of Resident Education. Dr. Gantt is the First Vice-President Elect of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and serves on the ACS Board of Regents Anti-Racism and ACS Patient Education Committees. She served as Vice-Chair of the Executive Committee of the ACS Board of Governors, and inaugural BOG Diversity Pillar Lead. She is Past-President of the Association of Women Surgeons (AWS) and the Ohio Chapter of the ACS.
One of Dr. Gantt’s primary roles, and passions, is to mentor and empower medical students and residents to find their perfect career. She has mentored surgeons at all stages of their careers at NEOMED and through the AWS and ACS. Dr. Gantt is also Chair of the Association of Women Surgeons’ Foundation, dedicated to sponsoring activities that advance women’s careers in surgery and address gender disparities amongst surgeons worldwide.
Dr. Gantt is a Chicago native and earned her medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. She completed an internship, research and general surgery residency at University of Pittsburgh Hospitals and Clinics.
