Rachel Moon, MD

Rachel Moon is a general pediatrician and the Harrison Distinguished Teaching Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Virginia School of Medicine.
She received her medical degree from Emory University and completed her pediatric residency at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
Dr. Moon’s research centers on parental decision-making and practices, particularly with regards to practices (including sleep, feeding, and immunization practices) that may increase the infant’s risk for adverse outcomes, including SIDS and other sleep-related infant deaths.
She has authored or co-authored more than 150 peer-reviewed papers. She also created Clerkship Ready-Pediatrics, a podcast aimed at pediatric learners.
She is Chair of the American Academy of Pediatrics' Subcommittee on Sudden Unexpected Infant Death and the Associate Editor of Digital Media for the journal Pediatrics.
