Aerang Kim, MD, PhD

I am an Associate Professor of Pediatrics with tenure and Director of Clinical Research in the Division of Oncology and solid tumors attending at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC. My research has focused on the clinical development of novel therapeutics for pediatric solid tumors, sarcomas, and NF1 associated tumors, in particular malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors (MPNST). I serve as the MPNST disease committee chair for the Department of Defense Clinical Trials Consortium. I serve as the Co-Director as the Focused Ultrasound Foundation Center of Excellence at Children’s National. With collaborators and federal funding support, I have been able to develop and lead early phase trials of novel combination therapeutics for pediatric patients with solid tumors including sarcoma. I serve as the institutional Principal Investigator at Children’s National for the Children’s Oncology Group Pediatric Early Phase Clinical Trials Network with the major goal to conduct early phase trials in children with cancer to identify and develop new agents for children and adolescents.
