Dr. Ashby Walker is an Assistant Professor at the University of Florida in the Department of Health Services Research, Management and Policy and is the Director of Health Equity at the UF Diabetes Institute. Dr. Walker is an elected member and Chair of the American Diabetes Association’s National Health Disparities Committee and serves on the Chronic Diseases & Conditions Workgroup for Florida's Health Improvement Plan. Dr. Walker’s nationally recognized research as a medical sociologist focuses on reducing health disparities in diabetes and she serves as PI and Director of the ECHO Diabetes program in Florida. She was selected by Diabetes Forecast magazine as “People to Know” for 2019, she won the Diversity Champion Award for UF in 2021, and is the recipient of seven teaching, mentoring, and curriculum development awards.
