Shane Henise, Program Coordinator, Gender Care Services

Shane Henise (he/him) serves as the Program Coordinator for Gender Care Services at Children's National Hospital. In this position, he coordinates the Multidisciplinary Gender Care Clinic at CNMC and works with families to help them navigate getting care. Shane also serves on the LGBTQ DEI Subcommittee, advancing patient services and supports.

Shane has been working with the transgender community for over a decade. Shane's background is in both counseling and media work. He graduated from Teacher's College, Columbia University with his Master of Education in Psychological Counseling in 2017, specializing in care for the LGBTQ community. Shane also has a love of research and has publications related to transgender microaggressions and mental health outcomes for transgender youth. 

Shane now also serves as the Program Director for the Rainbow Youth Alliance, a LGBTQ+ youth support program based in Maryland.
