Alyssa Schlenz, PhD
Alyssa Schlenz, PhD is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and Children’s Hospital Colorado. Dr. Schlenz’s clinical interests are focused on assessment and consultation/liaison supports for children with neurodevelopmental and behavioral disorders and medical complexity. Her research interests are focused broadly on improving quality of life and identifying methods for improving access to high quality care for individuals with sickle cell disease, with research spanning the areas of neurologic complications, neurodevelopmental and behavioral disorders, and pain. Dr. Schlenz is chair of the neurocognitive workgroup for the National Alliance for Sickle Cell Centers, which aims to develop standards for developmental and cognitive surveillance, screening, and evaluation for sickle cell disease. She has also developed multiple integrated clinical programs focused on early identification and consultation/liaison support for children with sickle cell disease and co-occurring neurodevelopmental and behavioral conditions.
